Captain Backfire last night stormed to victory in the regional final of The Winning Post Battle of the Bands. Playing a half hour set containing only one cover song they beat off three other local bands, in a result hinging on judges and public vote, to secure their place in the national semi-final. Leaping into the air when the result was announced, the band members were delighted and can’t wait to play in the next stage of the competition, taking place in Sunderland on the 12th of January next year.
